Description

The End.
The End.

The End is a presumably infinite library composed of open areas and wide corridors. The building contains bookshelves, stands, and the usual apparatus of a normal library. Furniture is often positioned randomly, sometimes converging with one another or connecting into the walls. The library is virtually devoid of books, leaving its shelves barren. Throughout the building, short texts and labels can be found meaninglessly placed on walls, commonly depicting the level's name. The level's condition is relatively poor, showing signs of temporal decay; its walls are seen to have cracks, and some shelves may collapse under slight pressure. The building's lights are faulty, occasionally flickering or sometimes shutting off temporarily.

Old-style computers—heavily resemblant to vintage personal computers—can be sparsely found throughout the complex. Though appearing in pristine condition and proving indestructible, these devices are almost always inoperative or unplugged; those that do function will turn on for mere seconds before abruptly turning to a fading static. When powered on, the device will resonate a light buzz before displaying the level's name in white text. Afterward, the computer cannot be turned on again. Many speculate that these computers share close ties to the level, but it is indeterminable in what manner these two factors are related. Other mobile items scattered around The End include chairs, ladders, posters, and more. These objects appear untouched; they are either covered by a thin layer of fine dust or wrapped in plastic packaging.

Sound is severely muted in The End, with its quietest moments fluctuating around zero decibels; however, nearby computers as well as the library's faint fluorescent lighting disrupt this silence. Furthermore, geometry is loosely defined in the building, twisting and warping in ways that cause all navigational methods to become fruitless. Isolated from all life, wanderers traveling the library typically become heavily disoriented; long-term exposure to the End commonly results in auditory and visual hallucinations. However, this is merely a facade of an empty shell, in which its meaningless existence is only a spatial threshold—an in-between space between levels.

Entrances and Exits

Entrances

Entrances to The End are very rarely encountered, resulting in few reliable sources of documentation . However, they are often reported to appear in the form of indestructible wooden doorways that lack actual doors; the view beyond the threshold is commonly distorted and sound waves within its vicinity are significantly weaker. Upon passing the threshold, the entrance will immediately vanish, leaving wanderers in the infinity of The End.

Exits

Noclipping during distortions will cause an energy fluctutation and cause the wanderer to enter the scene presented during that distortion. Another method of exiting involves finding an exit door that leads to a random level.
