I - Overview

No-clipping, also known as "Phasing" or "Blipping," is a phenomenon that occurs when objects or people travel through temporary spatial anomalies localized within a physical object. These spatial anomalies, known as "Glitches," may allow one to pass through them, might resulting in one ending up in the Backrooms.

II - Glitches

The most common way to no-clip is finding an unstable "glitched" object within the Backrooms or the Frontrooms. Common signs of such an object include:

  • Gravity feeling slightly "off" while near a certain area.
  • A wall's texture seemingly moving and shifting.
  • Light slightly bending around a certain object.
  • The temperature nearby is unusual.
  • Slight discoloration of an object.
  • Physical distortion.
  • In extreme cases, the object's physical form constantly shifting and changing.

When one makes physical contact with such an object, three possible phenomena will happen; those include:

One is that the object may suddenly cease all anomalous behavior, returning to its normal state. The second is that one will pass through the object but will remain in the Frontrooms or the level of the Backrooms they were currently inside, although in a different location than before. The final and most common possibility is that one will pass through the object, landing in a level within the Backrooms.

III - The Physics of No-Clipping

There have been many scientific theories proposed about how no-clipping works, but the prevailing model is the "Dimensional Fluctuation Theory." This theory states that the laws of physics can sometimes cease to work in small localized areas, rendering you able to phase through glitched objects. Shortly after your body fully no-clips through a glitched object, the object becomes solid again, displacing your body and moving it on the 4-dimensional axis, sending you to The Void.

After getting sent to The Void, small pockets of warped space known as "Dimensional Fluctuations" move you through the 4-dimensional W-axis, creating the sensation of falling. The theory posits that the Backrooms and its levels exist beside our universe on the aforementioned W-axis, thus allowing one to travel into the Backrooms.

IV - Meditative No-Clipping

Although for most people, no-clipping is impossible to perform using non-glitched objects, some people have learned the technique of willingly no-clipping through objects. This technique often takes months to learn and years to perform consistently, making those who can execute it a valuable asset to groups within the Backrooms.

The most known method of performing this technique is listed below.

  • Step 1: Stay focused. You will need to be focused to perform this technique.
  • Step 2: Find a solid object, preferably one that is not part of the wall or the ground and that is soft or fragile.
  • Step 3: Close your eyes, and imagine the object you intend to no-clip through can be easily passed through.
  • Step 4: Run towards the object at full speed. The faster you are traveling towards the object, the higher your chances of success.
  • Step 5: Right before you hit the object, jump towards it. If you are successful, you will no-clip through the object and enter The Void.

Those who have precisely mastered Meditative No-Clipping have been reported to be able to influence the destination at which they end up, sometimes even ending up within levels that are usually impossible to enter from their current level via the usual method of no-clipping.

The earliest confirmed reports of Meditative No-Clipping were by The First, who discovered that was a way to consistently no-clip through objects around six years after entering the Backrooms. There have been rumors of The Lost utilizing such techniques, although these rumors are unsubstantiated.
