Description
The Jester is a highly dangerous humanoid entity resembling a medieval court jester in appearance, standing approximately 1.83 meters in height. He wields a serrated dagger that secretes an unidentified toxin, and a sickle similar to those used for harvesting crops. He is covered from head to toe in an outfit of red and black cloth trimmed with gold, accompanied by accessories that he can seemingly manifest at will. He will often produce items as if from thin air, such as juggling balls, musical instruments, or playing cards. Accounts of his musical talent agree that he plays with the kind of mastery that no mortal being could possess, producing hypnotic melodies and skillfully improvised lyrics.
His presence is announced by maniacal giggling or distant music, before he presumably no-clips into the location and jumps out from behind cover for “dramatic effect”. When asked, the Jester claims to be some sort of guardian, protecting some kind of powerful object or force from being claimed by others. He also states that he can access the minds of his alternate selves in other realities, and is driven to act on behalf of the "will of existence and strings of destiny".

The reasons behind his various activities are confusing at best and incomprehensible at worst. Multiple instances of him aiding wanderers or singing them a song around a campfire have been reported, however he has attacked and wounded M.E.G personnel on a few occasions. There have been instances where actions taken by the Jester were later discovered to prevent level-wide catastrophes in a manner similar to the butterfly effect, these may be coincidences but when asked, he claims they were both intentional, and “to keep the Backrooms in line”.
The Jester is to be regarded with caution and hostility if necessary. Throughout various encounters, interviews and incidents, the Jester has shown himself to be far from mentally stable. His mind is a bubbling mess of violence, music and party tricks with the occasional bouts of lucidity and seriousness.
The Jester’s relations with other prominent entities in the Backrooms seem to change frequently depending on the circumstances. Legends tell of ancient wars between them, but also battles fought alongside each other. The Jester and The Storyteller were once seen deep in conversation among the bookshelves of his library. Another such sighting depicted the Jester and The Crimson Wanderer playing a game of cards together.
“Jester of the Court” Theory
The Jester is theorized to be one of the many figures spoken of in The Legend of The Court, and furthermore the keeper of Level Alpha-Omega and the Crown of the Throne without any legitimate heir. This explains his supposed role in managing the state of the Backrooms. His ability of seamless traveling and some possible kind of foresight/knowledge of causality are theorized to assist in his role in the Court. According to the theory, the Jester also watches over the Treasures of the Void and their holders.
